OK, I started to transfer a *lot* of stuff from another system to /mnt/hd2 *before* mounting the disk. Before I actually got a clue about what the real problem was (something between keyboard and chair, I think), I rebooted system. Here's the problem. GUI logon presents all users names, instead of just uid > 500. Only "default" and "failsafe" are presented (KDE is gone). None of these work. I can use Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get console access and ssh remote access work. Using shell access, I deleted the junk, and mounted second disk properly. Attempts at gui login return to login screen. It would seem some "/" partition file corruption has occurred. How do I go about fixing it? Frank
