This list has heard it all before, but anyway... Here at Washington Bible College/Capital Bible Seminary we use Linux for file serving, routing, firewalls, mail filters, backup servers, small web servers etc. I use Gentoo linux almost exclusively. We are based in Lanham, MD (just outside D.C.) and have an extension campus in VA with a linux router. I've been using Linux on campus for 3 or 4 years now and in my own hobby pursuits for 7 or 8 years. I'm hoping to bring Linux into a small Christian school this summer with the usage of a Linux Terminal Server to allow the recycling of old PCs as we build their network, but that isn't set in stone yet. It would be their only access to research resources since they don't have a library. If that happens I'll be using K12 LTSP because there is no one locally who is familiar with Linux or has the time to learn on the level Gentoo requires. Thanks fort he opportunity to share, and hope this could be of help. I have been excited about the possibilities of Linux on the mission field since I was in high school and hope to eventually take my Linux skills around the world. (If you start a Linux Missionary Tech Support center let me know.) I'd be glad to share more of any of this if it is up your alley. :-) Oh, I was enjoying the missionarytechsupport.com website. I did find that some links to pages concerning the "MissionaryMachines" didn't work. One was in the FAQ area and the other was on http://www.missionarytechsupport.com/launchpad/newpc.html. It was the link entitled Missionary Machine Selector.
