Being behind a firewall is also one possible reason for slow download-rates. I 
tried Bittorrent few weeks ago, but because I didn't know how to open up 
right "ports" for it (I didn't study it very seriously either, because I am 
not sure how safe it is...), my download-rates were 50% smaller than uploads.
