I've noticed in Windows that when its left on and I haven't been on it in a while the hard drive comes into use for extended periods of time. I do not think Windows XP is defragmenting during its idle time because I've checked the disk fragmentation after its done that for a while, as far as I can tell I also don't have any spyware or adware or viruses on my computer as this has been happening for a long time and I've been keeping my anti-virus, anti-trojan and anti-spyware software up to date. I have a firewall in Windows, I also have anti-virus, anti-trojan and anti-spyware software installed so what could be causing windows to work the computer so hard when its supposed to be idle?
