I have downloaded and installed Gned and also downloaded the source code so that I can examine it. I will probably get a book from the library about java today. I think this may be fun to check out. However, I do doubt that I will be doing any "real" development work on it. I might try tinkering with it, but that is about it. Anyway, I do thank you for the opportunity.
