Activism pays off for OpenBSD

Register site, sorry.

Hardware vendors have responded positively to activism on the part of
members of the OpenBSD community and developers and either allowed
redistribution of specific firmware or else begun a dialogue with
developers, the head honcho of the OpenBSD project says.

Theo de Raadt said Atmel and Zydas were to be congratulated for making
their firmware files re-distributable. "Conexant and Intel have been open
to dialogue for which we are grateful," he added.

However, Texas Instruments had not responded and de Raadt said the activism
would continue.
