Hardware vendors have responded positively to activism on the part of members of the OpenBSD community and developers and either allowed redistribution of specific firmware or else begun a dialogue with developers, the head honcho of the OpenBSD project says. Theo de Raadt said Atmel and Zydas were to be congratulated for making their firmware files re-distributable. "Conexant and Intel have been open to dialogue for which we are grateful," he added. However, Texas Instruments had not responded and de Raadt said the activism would continue.
