The one volume on sexual disfunction was infected > heavily with the myth that humans are sexual beings from birth. The Did they overlook our good friend Freud on that subject? I'm not sure what to make of such theorization, but until I can figure out how to talk to a new born, it's hard to say. If that "myth" has any truth to it, it may just be another good case for original sin. At any rate, going back to the original post concerning Kinsey... despite my disagreements with him, and his flawed sample bases, he still presented some disturbing statistics on American behavior, I would posit. Some of them probably hold some truth. I don't think Kinsey helped the situation, but I suspect he is more of an effect than a cause. Perhaps Kinsey "freed" people to do whatever they felt like, but that's only because society was at a point where it was looking for an excuse to cast away Biblical belief. More recent sociological research I've seen on American behavior look about as gloomy as his writings. But, in the end, j-t and Josiah hit the big point. If we could start a new Great Awakening (I can dream, can't I?) that would fix the problem. Complaining about Kinsey will not. -Tim --------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy R.
