I believe he is referring to bloat in the sense of Java, Mono and Python
all being interpreted (and Java IS interpreted, at least the first time
its run).  I've noticed Java being a slow beast, so I'm not sure I agree
there, and I've never used Mono for anything grand, but I'll agree with
him as far as python goes.  It's possible to write some pretty fast
python code, especially if you use psyco or pyrex, and most (all?)
applications that are going to be associated with GNOME and its ilk are
I/O bound anyway, so with some clever hackery one wouldn't notice the
difference.
